Niagara Ultra 50 K Photo Race Report

Niagara Ultra 50 K Photo Race Report

Once again, needed to ask someone (gas station) for directions - actually on the right route. Great to have race day pick-up.

Always get the best clothing from this race!
Start line 7 AM

We're off!
Canine friends as spectators!
5K mark. Every 5K there is a water station with water, gatorade, candies.

Scenic route along the Niagara River.

Uphill - there were quite a few of these. However, running back mean downhill!
12 K. For the next 1/2 K, steep uphill, which I walked.
This race is not closed to traffic; thus, need to let cars go first before safely crossing.

14 K. Hydroelectricity.

15 K water station.

17 K. Ouch - no shade. Sunny, hot, and humid day.

Water station at 20 K.

Heading towards Niagara Falls.
Turnaround for full marathon.

Running downhill.

Bridge to USA.

Entering Niagara Falls. Lots of visitors.

View of Canadian Niagra Falls.
Photo with the falls.

Past 25 K. Now heading back to the start line.

19 K to go.

Finish line in sight!
Proud little brother, Bud, wearing the finisher's medal
Finisher's medal - each year is the same design with the date changed.

Chip Time = 7:29:39
Gun Time - 7:30:17
Overall = 160 out of 180
Gender = 79 out of 88

YTD = 736.4 K

No issues - except it was hot and humid. Brought a water bottle and filled it up at every station from 20 K to the end. That mean I drank almost 1 L of gatorade every hour.

Happy that full/ultra marathon #39 is now completed. Four races this spring. The summer will be maintenance. Next race is Montreal Marathon in late September.
