25:1 (x8)

Snowstorm this past Friday and I took the public transit to work. Was concerned with the weekend run as I might have to be running through snow. Fortunately, the sidewalks this morning were not slippery as the snow melted with the above freezing weather. No problems :-) Went east on the Danforth past Warden and then back home. Today = 29.43 K. YTD = 318.63 K.

25:1 (x2) in COLD weather!

-7C with wind blowing in my face = not easy and fun run :-| Running against the wind was great but not running into the wind. Also, there was a thin layer of snow on the sidewalks. Nothing compared to the snow storm we're forecasted to get tonight (8 to 15 cm of snow). Glad I "forced" myself to run in order to get 3 runs in for the week. YTD = 289.2 K.

Wow -- snow storm yesterday and terrible drive home. Fortunately today the sidewalks were cleared on the main roads. Not the most fun run today due to the melting snow as well so had to becareful of puddles. More snow coming Thursday and Friday :-( Winter has finally arrived. Only good thing is the temperature is at 0C. Today = 6.85 K. YTD = 282.19 K

LSD 25:1 (x8)

Been busy at work and unable to leave on time for a run. Thus, opted for LSD on Saturday and to increase the run by 1 interval. The weather is incredibly warm -- about 3C. Ran on the Martin Goodman Trail -- dry pathways. But flurries expected Monday night :-( Some runners on the trail this morning but not that many. The music helped get the time go by quickly. Today = 27.83 K. YTD = 275.34 K.

680 News and the Toronto Star reported that the Toronto Marathon will move to the first week of May in 2011 (but not official until Toronto Council gets involved). Sounds good to me! My spring "A" race would be the Toronto Marathon and my fall "A" race would be the Toronto Waterfront Marathon.

Family Day 25:1 (x2)

Family Day -- provincial holiday! Opted for a weekday run today (as opposed to tomorrow) since I have a meeting after work tomorrow. Went through the Cabbagetown community. Saw 2 postal people delivering mail and the 680 News later said Canada Post is working since they work for the federal government. The beginning was a bit difficult as my legs were used to a 2 days off after an LSD. Today = 6.78 K. YTD = 247.51 K.

Chinese New Year - Year of the Tiger began yesterday!

Sunday, February 14, 2010

Saturday, February 13 25:1 (x7) = 26.16 K
Thursday, February 11 25:1 (x2) = 6.85 K
Tuesday, February 9 25:1 (x2) = 7.00 K

I'm embarassed that I didn't write 3 blog entries this past week. Guess I've been busy at work (or just plain lazy to write the blog).

Today, I ran east on Gerrard Street East and when I reached Woodbine and Kingston, I headed east on Kingston slightly east of Warden (2.5 K from the Scarborough Bluffs!). Most of the route was dry. Weather was nice, about -2C and minimal wind. Ideal for winter running!

Tuesday and Thursday parked the car at the Botanical Gardens on Lawrence and Leslie and ran in that area -- in awe of the Bridle Path homes!

Overall, a great running week!
This week = 40.01 K.
YTD = 240.73 K

25:1 (x7)

Only 2 runs this week as this past Thursday was mom's 70th birthday and the intended run last night didn't happen as I got out of work at 7 PM. Thus, opted to run this morning and do an extra interval. Quite cold but fortunately not windy; about -10C. Ran east until the endpoint on Queen Street East (3000 Queen Street East) and then momentarily on the boardwalk at the Beaches. A pleasure to see so many dogs -- many of them Golden Retrievers. Grounds remain dry :-) Today = 25.39 K. YTD = 200.72 K. Thrilled to reach the 200 K mark!

A few days ago, heard on the radio that Toronto City Hall will give 2 more weeks for the Waterfront and Toronto Marathon to work out who will move to the spring so there are 2 marathons in Toronto annually; if a deal cannot be made, only 1 marathon will happen in the fall and that will be open to any bidder (so both existing marathons could lose).

Yesterday's 25:1 (x2)

Got in my Tuesday run yesterday after work (first day of second semester!). Cancelled my massage appointment (rescheduled for Saturday). Got in 6.76 K in the school neighbourhood. It was snowing a bit during the run but was not cold. It was only after the run when I cleared the snow off the car that I realized it had snowed (but not significant). YTD = 175.33 K.

The Toronto City Hall has given the Waterfront marathon and the Toronto Marathon 2 more weeks to work out who will move to the spring. If no deal is reached then there will be a bidding for 1 fall marathon and it is possible neither can get it. Jay Glassman of the Toronto Marathon stated he could move to the spring but wants a perk for doing so; Alan Brookes of the Waterfront Marathon still wants a mega marathon. Brookes knows his race will get the edge. No complaints from me for 2 Toronto marathons - 1 in the spring and another in the fall. Issue is when in the spring? How will this impact the Mississauga Marathon?
