this week

Two runs this week, with 2 weeks to go until the Toronto Waterfront Marathon! - Wednesday - 5 K after work - found a cool trail that led to streets, got "lost", and found my way back to the car. Great autumn weather. 5 K - Today - 21.1 K this morning - sunny and cool weather, excellent for running. First 7 K along the Toronto Waterfront Marathon route (north on University, east on Gosvoner, north on Church, west on Bloor, ... , south on Bathurst...). YTD = 1159.1 K

32 K long run

Forgot to post... 2K after work Friday. Today: 32 K run. Followed the Toronto Waterfront Route by starting on University Avenue and running north to Grovensor; then east to Church; north to Bloor; west to St. George; west to Augusta (well, supposed to be Bathurst); south to Dundas; through Alexandra Park; south on Bathurst; west on Lakeshore - this took 7 K. Then along the usual route on the Martin Goodman Trail west of the Humber Bridge, and back. Very pleased the fall weather has arrived. 20 C with, cool breeze, and no humidity. All set for the October 14th marathon. Have now run the 32 K maximum distance in training twice, along with the 30 K Midsummer Night's Run. YTD = 1103 K

Toronto Waterfront Marathon Route

25 K LSD

Forgot to post mid-week run of 2 K after work on Thursday. This morning, was "shocked" when turned on Garmin and it said "low battery". So, run was delayed for 45 minutes so the watch could recharge. Not sure how/why this happens. The run began very late, at 10:15 AM. The weather was 20C and sunny - nice weather. Legs were tired from last week. Originally, the plan was for 30 K but I changed that to 25 K to avoid injury. Next week, can look at 30 - 32 K.  YTD = 1069 K

32 K Run; Photos from Tommy Thompson Park

Forgot to post for Thursday morning's run - 5 K before work - Kay Gardner trail.

This morning, planned on 30 K run but ended up with 32 K. Brought along the camera and took photos - especially of Tommy Thompson Park. This is the same park used in the Midsummer Night's Run. I was pleasantly surprised with the number of people in the park. I remember running in the park a couple of years ago and only a handful of people. Great for running and scenic - but can be boring. There was a cool breeze near the lake. So the route was Cherry Park, Tommy Thompson Park, Ashbridges Bay Park, Kew Beach Park, and back home. Lots of stopping to take photos (total 24). Lots of people playing beach volleyball and at the beach in Ashbridges Bay. Happy to complete the longest run in the training and repeating it will be easier in a few weeks (hopefully) when the weather cools a bit. YTD = 1037 K
