Race Report: Dallas Marathon - December 13

Full/ultra marathon #35 is now in the books. Registered for the Dallas Marathon 5 weeks ago. It was about 3 weeks ago that I experienced pain in my left knee. Fearing runner's knee, which I experienced  6 or 7 years ago, I saw a sports medicine doctor who was not convinced it was runner's knee. He recommended physiotherapy. Surprisingly, my physiotherapist said 99% of the knee issues are due to the feet. She gave me 2 exercises.

Arrived in Dallas Saturday morning. Stayed at the Hyatt Regency Hotel, which was a 10 minute walk to the expo to pick up bib and tech shirt. At the expo, purchased a greeting card that read: "You know you're a Runner when...the first question you ask the doctor is, 'How soon can I run again?'" So true!

Entering Dallas Marathon expo at the Dallas Convention Centre.

What timing and coincidence! 3 running celebrities: Meb, Ryan, and Denna

With US Olympian, Ryan Hall. Pleasure to meet him (having read lots about his running in the Runner's World)

With 2014 Boston Marathon winner, Meb Keflezighi

With 2005 Chicago Marathon winner, Denna Kastor. Watched her in Spirit of the Marathon video.
Autographed bib from Meb, Deena, and Ryan
Tech shirt: Front (red flying horse)

Tech shirt: Back

Start line organized into 3 corrals. Light rain and 55F.

Warmed up the legs. Waiting for corral C to start.

Getting ready for the start!

Dallas City Hall

Rain! First marathon that it rained. Needed to be careful not to trip.

Oh great - train. Fortunately, there was no train and a state trooper held the gate for the runners to cross. Impressive.
Christmas decorations.
Reached 5 K. Each mile was identified and every 5 K.
Was surprised to see sign "Gun-free zone". Prior, the school sign said this is the best school in USA.

Uphill.
Full and half marathon now diverges.
I found the 2nd half of the route scenic.
Steep uphill walk.
Another steep hill - this one is worse
Fluid stations every couple of Ks. Not easy to stand in the rain and cool weather.
This is a great sign. Pleased the spectator allowed me to photograph him.
Entering White Rock Park

Nice view of the waterfront.

Check points along the route.

I signed the sign - however couldn't find where I signed my name.
