Picton Marathon Race Report

Last Sunday, I ran the Picton Marathon. Been so busy and only now getting to upload the photos. Full/ultra marathon #32 is now in the books.

Made the trek on the highway early Saturday morning. Stopped by The Big Apple in Colborne. Past by this place numerous times on the 401 highway as I taught in Belleville from 1997 to 2001.

Photo of the pie makers in action. The Big Apple have sold over 5 million pies!

Quinte Secondary School in downtown Belleville. 4 amazing years as a mathematics teacher here (room 113).

I lived in this apartment (room 106) during my time in Belleville. 3 minute walk to school!

Made it to Picton, which is 40 km from Belleville. I stayed at The Picton Harbour Inn, which is a km from the finish line. Picton has a population of 4000 people.

View of harbor from hotel room.

Sunday morning start-line. Small race. Took a school bus to the start line, in Wellington.

Rural community. Lots of open space and farms.

Entering Bloomfield!

Glad it did not rain! I imagine winter roads are tough. At 15 K.

Scenic view!

Pumpkin selling.

Another scenic view.

Half way!

Entering Sandbanks Provincial Park. Fall colours arriving.

23 K. Spectacular view.

Another amazing view.

Waterfront view.

Another nice view.

Thank you to the volunteers at each of the fluid stations 2 K apart. Gels at 20 K. Unfortunately no gels at 30 K. Glad I took 2 gels at 20 K and used it at 32 K.

2 K until Picton.

Now in Picton!

Finish line in sight!

Proud brother wearing the finisher's medal!
