Last 2 Weeks in Review - sick; 20 K run today

Last week, no runs. Was sick, which started on the Thursday night (very runny nose), took Friday off from work as felt weak and needed to sleep. Spent the weekend sleeping, sleeping, and sleeping. Cold lasted about 5 days. Heard on the radio as the weather gets colder, viruses are spreading. Wonder if I caught a cold from the man who coughed near my face on the last long run? Glad I'm recovering (not 100% though).

Three runs this week:

* Tuesday = 2 K after work
* Friday = 2 K after work
* Today = 20 K along Martin Goodman trail. Path was dry :-)

On January 15, I paid the $11 fee to put my name in the draw for the New York Marathon. It is very difficult to get selected, and if so, the registration fee is $347 US. I will not register for the Hamilton Marathon until I get word about the New York Marathon.

YTD = 73 K

20 K Run along the Danforth

After the past week of extreme cold weather and snow, I opted to run on the Danforth. I would have preferred to run on trail rather than on sidewalk - but the sidewalks were dry. Today's run was 20 K. Last couple of Ks were not that easy. Weather slightly below freezing point - much better than yesterday's -10C and -17C windchill.

YTD = 49 K (2.88% of 1700 K goal completed)

Greektown on the Danforth.
Wow - gas is 86.9 cents/L. This is 3 cents cheaper than other gas stations.

First long run of the year!

Took Bud to the vet yesterday for follow-up to his hotspot. This is the 2nd time in half the year Bud's gotten a hotspot. The vet said the summer episode was one of the worst hotspots he has seen (and he's been a vet for 50 years). Bud got another injection to treat the iching. The vet says we are on the right track. I circled the hotspot in the below photo:

After Bud walked me home, the snowstorm started. Wow - snow, followed by freezing rain, and then rain. Winter weather! Wore boots in the evening on Bud's walk.

This morning, I was thrilled that the slush had melted - thanks to the +5C weather. Was worried about the run since I wasn't going to risk falling on ice. Fortunately, no issues as the side walks were free of ice. Fulfilled my goal of 20 K run. Ran east on Queen Street into Ashbridges Bay Park.

YTD = 25 K (1.47% of 1700 K goal completed)

Photos below taken during the run:

Dry route! There were a few puddles I had to becareful going over.
