It's New Year's Eve and time to write a reflection on year 2010, Year in Review:
Completed 8 races:
10K -- Sporting Life, May 2, 51:45.6 [PB]
10 Miler -- Acura, July 11, 1:26:20.3 [PB]
Half Marathon -- Chilly, March 7, 1:54:44 [PB]
30 K -- Midsummer Night's Run, August 21, 2:52:14.3
Around the Bay, 2:51:51.0 [PB]
Full -- Toronto, 4:10:36.2
Toronto Waterfront, September 26, 4:10:32
Mississauga, May 16, 4:17:09.9
Suffered 1 injury which I believe occurred when entering into Copps Collesium in the Around the Bay 30 K race -- almost tripped in the steep turn :-| Physiotherapy for a few weeks helped get me to the start line of the Mississauga Marathon -- but the day before I was light-headed and didn't think I could run the marathon -- even thought about running the 1/2 marathon as a marathon registrant.
Highlight was completing 2 marathons 3 weeks apart. Changed from half marathon to full marathon at the last minute for the Toronto Waterfront. The Toronto Marathon is my favourite race! I like the different starting times for half and full marathoners. The route was also scenic. Also, the finisher's medal was huge!! Looking forward to the May 2011 Toronto Marathon -- which will mean no Mississauga Marathon next year.
Goal was 2010 K in the year 2010. Fell short of my goal as I accumulated 1770.6 K (88% of the target). Figured out that my Chow Chow, Bud, loves running and we did slow running for 10-15 minutes several times a week -- this was a win-win as it meant I could get in 1.3 K to 1.5 K.
Spent time during the holidays going through old Running Room and iRun magazines -- cutting out articles that are interesting (and then recycling the magazines). Discontinued subscriptions to Canadian Running, Runner's World, and Running World as I have way too many magazines that can be re-read and re-read. Amazing how the magazines accumulate.
Will post blog entry hopefully tomorrow on looking ahead to the new year, 2011.
