Week in Review

Week in Review:

Wednesday after work - 5 K along Martin Goodman Trail through Cherry Beach Park.
Cherry Beach Park - always find this so scenic. Also route of Midsummer Night's 30 K run.
Wonderful view of Lake Ontario!
 Friday after work - 5 K in Markham.
In Markham, residential areas often have parks nearby.
This is a pond built for the winter snow melting to prevent flooding.
 Sunday - 21.1 K run along Martin Goodman Trail. Morning rain stopped when I began run. Wore running jacket, which I had to hold due to the increasing humidity.
Almost 5 K at Ontario Place. Sun has made its appearance.
Taken west of Humber River Bridge. Scenic view of distant Toronto downtown.
Took Bud to the Word on the Street. 75 minutes later, we are home and exhausted (both of us). Bud is resting and happy to have said hi to several dogs.
Next Sunday is the Montreal Marathon. Tapering is done. Looking forward to marathon #24 - and first out of the province. Hoping for autumn running weather!

Terry Fox Walk 5 K

I believe this is the second time I have participated in the Terry Fox Run/Walk. I made a $20 donation and walked the 5 K route.

Heading north on Yonge Street. Sunny and cool weather - feels like autumn.

Souvenir "bib".

Nice ribbon. I actually lost mine during the walk. Had to get another one at the finish.
It's been 34 years since the Marathon of hope. Glad what Terry Fox began continues to this day.

Week in Review - 25 K long slow run

Three runs this week. With a new work location, I am "experimenting" with arrival and dismissal time. The good news is I had 2 runs with a distance of 5 K.

Tuesday = 5 K
Thursday = 5 K
Today = 25 K

YTD = 1155.3 K

2 more weeks until the Montreal Marathon!

At 5 K mark of 25 K run. Light rain. Not many runners on the Martin Goodman Trail today.

Here's something you don't see. Was at Loblaws. Look at the prices!

Week in Review - begin tampering for full marathon

Three runs this week:

* Monday, September 1 (my birthday) = 5 K

* Thursday: 5 K - hot and humid

* Today = 28 K - mostly cloudy, 23C - must better weather for running; previous day probably hottest day of summer

YTD = 1120.3 K

I received an impressive post card in the mail informing me the Ottawa Marathon registration is now open. I may wait until the Montreal marathon expo to sign up as there is often freebies given as an incentive? Registration is expensive $107 + HST = almost $130.

Week in Review (including 32 K long run)

Back to work this past week. Three runs:

* August 26 = 1.5 K; unfortunately, I mixed up my running shoes - the right shoe had the orthodics but the left shoe did not. Opted to shorten the run to prevent injury. A bit humid.

* August 27 = 5 K

* Today = 32 K; Thrilled to have gotten in the 32 K distance today. The forecasted humidity was not really a factor. It did rain (heard thunderstorms!) after the first hour. The sun made its appearance after 12 K. Wore my toque which helped keep the sun out of my eyes. Also wore sunglasses.

On Martin Goodman Trail heading west to Humber River Bridge. Started to rain - and rain quite hard after an hour.

Air Show near Ontario Place.

May begin to taper in preparation for the Montreal Marathon or repeat 32 K distance next weekend. Will depend on weather.
Montreal Marathon tech shirt revealed.

Montreal Marathon finisher's medal revealed. Not sure what is the building.

Week in Review - massage, 30 K long run

Week in Review

Wednesday = 5 K (took 3 days off to rest from last Saturday's Midsummer Night's 30 K run).

Thursday = 6.5 K; also went for a 60 minute massage - much was focused on the legs - right leg tight. Massage works as I have not been injured in years. Loosens the tightness (which is the way to legs cope)

Saturday = 30 K along Martin Goodman Trail. Aim was at least 25 K but since the sky was overcast, that helped considerably - even if it was a bit humid. Happy with the distance. Will aim for 32 K next weekend. That should be enough before tapering in preparation for the Montreal Marathon in the last week of September.

YTD = 1043.8 K

Passed by the CNE reaching 5 K, which is open from August 15 to September 1.

Toronto Harbourfront - close to 25 K

After the run, Bud took me to the Buskerfest on Yonge Street. Huge crowds!

Race Photos

Wow - the legs are tight. Scheduled massage this Thursday to loosen them up. Will run tomorrow after taking Sunday, Monday, and today off for recovery. Been an excellent summer - cooler than usual. Perhaps that's the reward from a snowy and cold winter.

Race photos for the Midsummer Night's Run are now posted on the web site. Here are mine. Don't think I will purchase (even with 25% off).
