Got in 6.38 K this morning, for YTD = 830.95 K. Must have sore muscles from lifting textbooks (transport them to my car for summer school); cut the grass yesterday so had problems bending -- wasn't a good feeling but am fine now. Fortunately nothing to do with the heart!
Will have a separate post on looking back on the past 6 months as well as look ahead to the next 6 months. Been an amazing journey!

LSD 15:1 (x8)
Began the run at 8 AM (had planned for 6 AM). Seems like more bikers than runners on the Martin Goodman Trail this morning. Even though cloudy, it was humid. For the final 2 intervals, ran in drizzle. Need to wake up earlier so I can get in longer LSDs. 16.41 K; no issues.
Thursday - 15:1 (x3)
Thursday, June 25
15:1 (x3) before work; PD day so had to report to school by 9 AM. Ran in a park close to the school. Thank goodness for the shade; as it was hot and humid (even that early in the morning). 5.60 K.

15:1 (x3) ... Over 800 K :-)
15:1 (x3) this morning. Thrilled to have reached the 800 K mark! Will reach 500 miles on my next run. On track for 1000 miles for the year 2009. Today = 5.67 K -- hot and humid so looked for areas to run with shade. No wind, though. Took along water and gatorade. YTD = 802.56 K.

LSD 15:1 (x8) humid
Hot and humid today (80F) -- but will be hotter as the week progresses :-| Got in 15:1 (x8) on the Martin Goodman Trail this morning. Lots of runners and bikers on the trail, probably due to the rain yesterday. The final 2 intervals were challenging due to the humidity - but fortunately there was a breeze. Summer has definitely arrived. No issues with the knees :-) Today = 17.31 K. YTD = 796.89 K.

15:1 (x3)
Got in 15:1 (x3) today during my day off from work -- we're in exams now and it's my marking day. It was pouring rain yesterday (5 Mile Crawler race, which thankfully I didn't sign up for considering my recovery mode from running a full marathon). I am feeling the recovery is all done :-) Three runs a week starting this week :-) Today was very, very light rain (drizzle?) and felt great. Today = 6.26 K (ran through my final minute break as I didn't hear the buzzer); YTD = 779.58 K

15:1 (x3)
Got in 15:1 (x3) after work today -- good to get oxygen into the brain! 6.09 K. YTD = 773.32 K. I learned on the RR forum from can_caniuk that the 10% rule does not apply to post-marathon. This is good since I want to increase from 2 to 3 runs a week. My knees feel good (finally!).

LSD 15:1 (x7) + Woofstock
LSD this late morning (as I woke up late). It was humid out there but thankfully the clouds helped. I ran on a portion of the Martin Goodman Trail (good to be back!). I'm upping the mileage by 10% per week and the running felt good. Always good to get oxygen to the brain. Today = 14.76 K. YTD = 767.23 K. Hoping to reach half of 1609 K (i.e., 1000 miles) by June 30th but won't push it. Slowly getting back after full marathon recovery.
Afterwards, I took Bud to Woofstock. I know Bud loves to meet other dogs so where else is more appropriate. Woofstock takes place on a June weekend each year in Toronto and has lots of vendors selling dog stuff. 2 years ago, I bought a Chow Chow pillow. This year, I bought 2 Milk Bone packs for $2.00 donation. Hundreds of dogs! Bud was thrilled to see so many dogs at the beginning and then became selective who he greeted (by sniffing the other dog's nose). We had to rest for about 10 minutes before embarking home. The 500 mL bottled water I took along wasn't enough so I had to stop by a 7-11 and buy another bottled water ($1.29+tax but super needed).

15:1 (x3) + New Shoes!
Wore a new pair of running shoes (and retired the other one). Did a 15:1 (x3) after work today. No pain on the knees :-) Got in 5.71 K. YTD = 752.47 K.

Movie; Novel
Last week, I watched Saint Ralph. It's a movie about a boy who trains to run the Boston Marathon, believing in a maracle that it'll get his mother out of a coma. Not believeable for a 14 year old boy to go from having difficulty running a mile to winning the 30 K Around The Bay. Regardless, a good movie worthy of a place in my Running library!
My copy of Once a Runner, by John Parker Jr. has arrived! I'm looking forward to bedtime reading. I've heard so much (from the Runner's World) about this used-to-be out of print book.
In the current July 2009 issue of the Runner's World, there's an ad for their new book, Runner's Body: How the Latest Exercise Science Can Help You Run Stronger; Longer; and Faster by Ross Tucker and Jonathan Dugas. On my books to buy!

Sunday 15:1 (x6)
Been so busy haven't recorded my Sunday run :-|
Got in 15:1 (x6) :-) My original plan was 15:1 (x5) but I felt good enough to do another 15 minutes. Slowly it's all coming back! After the first interval, I switched the running strap from the left knee to the right knee - I think it helped. An enjoyable run as I didn't look at my Garmin. Distance = 12.18 K.
YTD = 746.76 K

15:1 (x3)
Got in 15:1 (x3) = 5.28 K. Right knee was stiff after a minute of running but loosened up during the run. I tried making an appointment with the sports medicine doctor but he's all booked up when I can make it after work this week. I guess it's a run-by-run monitoring. On Saturday, I'll up it to 15:1 (x5).
TTD = 734.58 K
