Spring around the corner; training for full marathons

Today's 0C weather, along moving the clocks an hour ahead, means spring is just around the corner :-) Need to increase the mileage for full marathon training as well. Got an e-mail the big hill in the Around the Bay 30 K race will be unavailable this year - it's at the end of the month! Toronto Marathon less than 2 months away! Found out I was unsuccessful in the lottery for the New York Marathon - that means I'll sign up for the Niagara Falls Marathon and Hamilton Marathon - for a total of 8 full marathons this year.

Today = 23 K along the Martin Goodman Trail. Went 1 K west of the Humber River Bridge and then turned back since the payment still had snow.

Wednesday = 2.26 K after work

Between 5C and 9C this week. Thrilled the snow is melting.

last 2 weeks, including 3 runs in San Diego

From Thursday, February 19 to Sunday, February 22 I was in San Diego for the National Association of Secondary School Principals (NASSP) conference. It was excellent. I got in 3 runs:

* Friday, February 20 = 6.7 K
* Saturday, February 21 = 7 K
* Sunday, February 22 = 14.10 K

34 miles of boardwalk in San Diego.

Excellent running weather: 65F. San Diego has 2 seasons - summer (85F) and the rest of the yaer (50 to 75F).

Over a 100 shops here.

A treasure find!

San Diego is known for it's navy.

Scenic path in Seaport Village.

Yeah! San Diego half marathon on March 8.

Wonderful view of downtown San Diego.

Now that I'm back in Toronto, two runs this week:

* Thursday, February 25 = 2 K
* Today = 20 K

Great running weather -6C. Sidewalks mainly dry. Martin Goodman Trail on Lakeshore Street East.

Wow - ice sculpture at a part on Queen Street East.

Family Day 5 K

Today is Family Day i.e., no work today. 5 K run. Wore clothing designed to run in the cold - haven't worn this since last year. Felt great. Once run ended, then I figured out how cold it actually is!

Week in Review - 2 runs

Two runs this week:

* Thursday = 2.3 K (very cold - my neck was freezing as the wind was blowing into my face).

* Saturday = 20 K (thrilled I ran yesterday as it was great running weather). Today was the coldest day of the year -40C with windchill - incredible!

YTD = 128.3 K
Completed 7.55% of 1700 K goal

On Martin Goodman Trail on Lakeshore St. East. Paths cleared but salty.

Paths somewhat cleared. Actually quite nice to run on "flat" snow.
Another view.

Back on the Lakeshore.

aargh! Snow, snow, snow

Aargh! Frustrating week with snow, snow, snow. Didn't run during the weekday due to the snow. Then Saturday and Sunday snowed as well. I got in 6 K on Saturday morning and opted for no more as I didn't want to get injured running on slushy sidewalks. Behind schedule. Bud is happy as he is enjoying the indoors after a walk:
