This week had only 2 runs - too busy at work :-|
Monday = 3 K
Today = 21.1 K - last taper before next Sunday's Mississauga Marathon. Spring has definitely arrived - been a long wake. Lots of runners on the Martin Goodman Trail today. Had a massage this past week and the legs have been loosened. Looking forward to my first marathon of this year.
YTD = 490.2 K

Boston Marathon tragedy
On the drive home from work on Monday, was shocked to hear there were 2 explosions near the finish line of the Boston Marathon. In total were 2 deaths and 160 injuries. The injuries resulted in losing arms and legs. Boston is the pinacle to running and that means those injured may never be able to run (or even walk) again.
On the drive to work Thursday morning, heard on the radio that one of the two suspects was shot and died in the hospital. The other surrendered Thursday night hiding in a boat. This is after a 7-11 store is robbed at gunpoint, a man taken hostage for 30 minutes in his car before being let go, an MIT police officer killed, and the entire town outside of Boston in lockdown for the day.
This tragedy really upset me and touched home since who would have imagined this to happen at a marathon. As everyone is wondering, the question is "Why?" How could the 2 suspects, who immigrated to the USA to get away from the war and danger choose to cause so much damage to a country that offered them safety?

Week in Review
Three runs this week:
* Wednesday = 3 K
* Thursday = 3 K (final 1 K it rained and rained quite hard)
* Today = 25 K - in tappering mode; on the Martin Goodman Trail; there was hail coming down and it hurt my face! also a bit windy.
Total this week = 31 K
YTD = 466 K
Next week will be 21.1 K LSD then the following week is the Mississauga Marathon!

Week in Review:
(1) Wednesday = 3 K. Ran after an evening workshop. Parked at the plaza in Aurora and then ran in the plaza. Unfortunately, I could not find my Garmin - turned out to be on the seat. Was puzzled where it went. So the 3 K is approximate and is timed for 20 minutes.
(2) Thursday = 3 K. This is the day of the grade 10 literacy test across the province. Many boards of education postponed the test due to the freezing rain alert. Turned out not to be bad at all. On the trek home, heard Thursday night into Friday morning would be worse - so I got in my run after work.
(3) Today = 32 K LSD. The longest run before a marathon is never easy but important. Happy to have gotten in 2 runs at 32 K each along with the 30 K Around the Bay race. The Mississauga Marathon is 3 weeks away and it is time to taper.
YTD = 435 K

2 runs in week, including 32 K LSD
Two runs this week:
* Wednesday = 3 K
* Today = 32 K LSD along the Martin Goodman Trail. Sunny but a bit cold with temperature around 2C. Started run at 11:15 AM and took 4 hours 15 minutes. Tomorrow's weather is forecasted with showers so better run today! Ran at a consistent slow pace but not easy with the last 10 K. Overall, pleased with the run. Only 1 month until the Mississauga Marathon. Then it's the Whitby Marathon followed by the Niagara Ultra 50 K. Everything is on track :-) The new shoes are working fine as well.
YTD = 397.1 K
